Ridgeway Community School's GIVEMN.ORG Donation Page

Ridgeway Community School has joined the nonprofit organization GiveMN.ORG to assist with our fundraising efforts. In addition to making a general contribution to support our programs, you can make a donation to help support any of these ongoing Ridgeway Community School projects and activities:

• Our School Wellness Facilities and Programs – In recent years we have made major playground improvements, built a fitness track, and installed a climbing wall and new gym floor.  While we need ongoing support to maintain these facilities, we are also making plans for an expanded outdoor classroom, and are in need of ongoing support for our after school sports and lifetime fitness clubs.  In a typical year our after school clubs include the following: archery, basketball, cross country skiing, dodge ball, flag football, hiking, kick ball, soccer (of course), track and field, tennis, vegetable gardening and volleyball.  Finally, Ridgeway Community School has a number of programs and acclivities to support student mental health.  Social and emotional skill development lessons are provided to all students during the school day and enrichment clubs such as our Girls Leadership Club and our Chess Club give students the opportunity to develop leadership, communication, and resiliency skills.

School and Community Arts Programs - In addition to offering ongoing visual arts and music classes for our students, Ridgeway Community School has works hare to provide our students the opportunity to participate in a variety of other arts and cultural experiences through visiting artists ad arts residencies.  All of these "extra" cultural experiences provide our students to learn more about themselves and the world around them.  Recent arts experiences have included traditional American folks dancing with Sue Hulsether, Prairie Fire Children's Theatre production of "Alice in Wonderland,"  Book Making with Jill Krase and puppet making and performance with Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre.  Our artist residencies always include a performance and workshop that is open to the public.  Donations from our community also help our students attend live youth theater and dance performances in La Crosse, Winona and the Twin Cities.

• Science, Technology, Engineering and Maker space activities:  Ridgeway Community School has been developing on going programming to enhance our students exposure to and hands-on experience with science, technology, and engineering concepts and activities.  Through some generous community donations, such as from the BK5K youth fund, we have created a "Maker-Space" lab that provides our students the opportunity to design, build, and tear apart.  Coding and robotic materials are also used both during school and in after school clubs such as Lego and robotics clubs.
