Ridgeway Community School

Student Assessment Information Page


2024-2025 School Year

Ridgeway Community School students receiving ELL services will take the ACCESS for ELL assessments according to the following:

  • February 24th to 27th (kindergarten to 5th grade students, all grades each day)
  • Estimated Assessment Times are as follows:
    • Listening - Up to 40 Minutes
    • Reading - Up to 35 Minutes
    • Speaking - Up to 30 Minutes
    • Writing Tier A - Up to 50 Minutes
    • Writing Tier B/C - Up to 65 Minutes
  • Purpose and Rationale - In accordance with ESEA, the ACCESS assessments are given to annually assess English language proficiency of all English learners.

Ridgeway Community School students will take the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments according to the following:

  • April 15th to 17th - Reading  (3rd to 5th grade students, all grades each day)
  • April 22nd to 24th - Math  (3rd to 5th grade students, all grades each day)
  • April 29th Science  (5th Grade Students only) 
  • Estimated Assessment Times are as follows:
    • Reading 2.5 - 3.5 Hours
    • Math 1.5 - 2.5 Hours
    • Science 1.5 - 2 Hours
  • Purpose and Rationale - In accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.30 and ESEA, the MCA and MTAS are given to measure achievement on the Minnesota Academic Standards and measure academic progress of students over time.

Ridgeway Community School students will be assessed using the STAR Reading and Math assessments according to the following:

  • All K-5 Students
    • Fall: 
      • Reading - September 10th to 12th
      • Math - September 17th to 19th
    • Winter:
      • Reading - January 7th to 9th
      • Math - January 14th to 16th 
    • Spring:
      • Reading - May 13th to 15th
      • Math - May 20th to 22nd
  • Estimated Assessment Times are 20-40 minutes
  • Purpose and Rationale - In accordance with Ridgeway Community School procedures, the standards aligned STAR Reading and Math assessments are given to provide timely and detailed feedback on student growth and development.  These assessments provide data for teachers to inform instruction and to set school wide, individualized, and grade level goals.

Ridgeway Community School students will be assessed using the FASTBridge assessments according to the following: 

  • All K-5 Students
    • Fall: Reading & Math, September 9th - 27th
    • Winter: Reading & Math, January 6th - 23rd  
    • Spring: Reading & Math, May 5th - 23rd
  • Estimated Assessment Times are 5-30 minutes
  • Purpose and Rationale - In accordance with Ridgeway Community School procedures, the FASTBridge assessments are given to monitor student performance in Reading and Math Fluency.  These assessments provide data for teachers to inform instruction and to set school wide, individualized, and grade level goals.
